In my last blog I provided several key event types. Today three emerged. They are: (1) Axis of Evil, (2) War, and (3) Man Made Things. These events have been triggered by the old devil Saturn and the elusive Vertex in the 7th house of contracts, relationships, partnerships, and agreements. Not only are they conjunct in the Eclipse of July 21 2009’s 7th House, Saturn and the Vertex are also within orb of sextiling the Sun and Moon in the Eclipse of July 21 2009’s 5th house. The sextile is making it easy for trouble to emerge in contracts, relationships, partnerships, and agreements. Also applying ominous pressure in the 7th House are the Arabic Lots of Manilus and the Arabic Part of Saturn. These two chart points are literally within orb of the Saturn-Vertex conjunction.

Today’s events show that the Eclipse of July 21 2009 came to start something. Reforms may find a foothold but sadly they may emerge after some wrangling, loss and ruin.

As an astrologer holding on to her day job, I’m very familiar with the signs of trouble in partnerships. One party starts demanding new rules while another demands that certain rules be “ruled out” or taken off the table. While still another claims they didn’t agree to this and so on. Does one have anything to do with the other? Probably not. Will it stir up a great deal of confusion? Indeed. In the end, will someone end up back pedaling on promises or passing the buck? Always. They’ll add: “no, it’s not me!” or “no, it’s not fair.” In the end, will they blame the messenger? We won’t need astrology to time this precisely because the blame will occur shortly before political or physical execution occurs. Is this how grown-ups ensure world peace? Well, we’ll have to wait and see.

Anne Gearan, AP National Security Writer reported earlier today that while U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates urged patience, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak declared: “We clearly believe that no option should be removed from the table. This is our policy; we mean it. We recommend to others to take the same position, but we cannot dictate it to anyone.”

If you recall, the US has asked that Israel not use force like air raids, invasion, or nuclear weaponry against Iran for fear of igniting a Holy War. They asked that Israel take a “no option” posture. Today Israel responded: F (as in forget) You Americans.

With Israel playing no games and China stepping up to the plate, news reports have emerged that North Korea wants to re-open talks.

Similarly, trouble is brewing with one of America’s Aces in the Hole. Today, President Hamid Karzai said he wants new rules governing the conduct of U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan and would be willing to talk with Taliban leaders who publicly renounce violence and endorse peace. “The Afghan people still want a fundamentally strong relation with the United States,” Karzai said. “The Afghan people want a strategic partnership with America” based on fighting Islamic extremism. But he added that the partnership must ensure “that the partners are not losing their lives, their property, their dignity as a consequence of that partnership.”

On behalf of Mr. Karzai, I’d like to offer this American Translation: “Yes I took the money. Yes, I know you helped me get elected. Yes, I haven’t forgotten that I asked you to help me keep the peace. But I didn’t realize someone would get killed. I wish you would just fight the Islamic extremist. Where are they? Hell, I dunno.”

Mr. Karzai should be more careful about what he wishes for.

Paraphrasing a lyric from an old MJ tune this Solar Eclispe wants to start something!

The Solar Eclipse of July 21, 2009 may have more to do with the Axis of Evil, War, man made things, and other lost and stolen man made things involving the earth and sea then desired reforms. This Solar Eclipse is Total and may bring to the fore smoldering issues and commitments that have lurked in the shadows for years.

In a 2006 book entitled “Eclipses” Celeste Teal named the Solar Eclipse of July 21, 2009 Desire for Reforms. The Reforms Eclipse is of special significance to former President Bush’s Axis of Evil which includes Iraq, Iran and North Korea.

Mrs. Obama will sponsor the future Coast Guard National Security Cutter Stratton, the namesake of Captain Dorothy Stratton who directed the Coast Guard’s Women’s Reserve or SPARs during World War II. No pleasure craft, the Stratton will stretch 418 feet, boast an array of weapons, a 54,000 square foot enclosed deck, a crew of 148, a range of 12,000 nautical miles; chemical, biological and radiological environmental hazard detection and an extra helping of intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance equipment.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has sent a special assessment team to assess an incident involving uranium at Babcock and Wilcox Company’s operation in Lynchburg, VA. The operation handles highly enriched uranium used in nuclear fuel. The commission said a saw used to cut fuel discharged oil containing a small amount of highly enriched uranium into a container.

The Solar Eclipse of July 21, 2009 and the Lots of Manilus.

The Lots of Manilus are based on the ancient first century accounts of the Arabic Part of Fortune by a man named Marcus Manilus. Simply, the Lots of Manilus are a twelvefold determination of the ecliptic that uses the Part of Fortune as the starting point. For instance, if the Part of Fortune is at 5 degrees Capricorn then the second lot would be at 5 degrees Aquarius and so forth. Historically, the Lots of Manilus are used restrictively. There is no mention of rulers or house positions. The Lots of Manilus are judged by their favorable and unfavorable aspects to planets. By employing the Arabic Parts as a complement to western astrological techniques I’ve been able to have fun, fill in gaps, validate assumptions, and spur new inquiries.

Let’s Have Fun

The Solar Eclipse of July 21, 2009 or Reforms Chart is not a New Moon Chart – it’s a Balsamic Moon Chart. The New Moon doesn’t occur until the Eclipse is over. It’s as if the heavens are warning us of the need for reforms and then offers up a new day to try again or try anew. Sometimes anew entails throwing out old plans. The Reforms Chart is also in the shape of a Seesaw. I’m sure you’ll agree that seesaws work best when there’s equal weight and effort coming from both sides. But one of the most interesting things about this chart is Uranus in Pisces, 1st House within orb of opposing Saturn conjunct the Vertex in Virgo, 7th House. Uranus is within orb of trining the Sun and Moon in Cancer, 5th house (Eclipse). Right above Uranus hugging the Ascendant is the Arabic Part of Fortune and right on Saturn and the Vertex hugging the Descendant are the Arabic Part of Saturn and the 7th Lot of Manilus called Danger. Arabic Part of Saturn and the 7th Lot of Manilus called Danger are in sextile to the Sun and Moon in Cancer, 5th house (Eclipse).

But the big picture lies in the definitions. I’m sure you’ll agree that it is easy to see the reform theme surfacing out of the first house with a surge of unexpected events; however, a closer examination of the 7th house with Arabic Parts and Lots reveals a little more about the “what” and “how” of this eclipse.

The What
The Planet Saturn conjunct Vertex
Responsibility and discipline in keeping one’s end of the bargain falls apart. There may be emotional difficulties and the severing of agreements, contracts, relationships and partnerships.
The Arabic Part of Saturn
Signifies heavy and weighty matters. Aside from jail, this part brings significance to everything conquered and to matters that have: (1) perished, (2) been lost or stolen, (3) submerged in a sea or a river or fell into a well or into a similar place, (4) the condition of the dead and the manner of death, (5) the condition of the harvests of other lands, (6) the growing of things, (7) diggings.

The How
7th Arabic Lot of Manilus
This Lot is defined as Danger and it’s within conjunction (orb) of the Part of Saturn, the Planet Saturn, and Vertex. In other words, we may be on the threshold of some dangerous times where death, loss, war, warfare and other heavy matters may be the emerging theme.

Here again we see the Arabic Lots answering a few what and how questions. Conjunct President Obama’s South Node is the 2nd Lot of Manilus called War or Warfare. The 7th Lot of Manilus called Danger is still in the 7th house conjunct Saturn and the Vertex. Will Obama adopt the old ways and err on the side of war or will he continue talking, negotiating, and partnering? Before you agree to either position please look back at the Total Solar Eclipse Chart above and check the decanate for the Eclipse. Will the Lord of the Eclipse overrule the influence of the decanate?

The Solar Eclipse of July 21, 2009 and the President’s Solar Return Chart.

A Yod involving: (1) Arabic Part of Fortune in Gemini, 11th house, (2) the Eclispe in Cancer, 2nd house, and (3) Pluto in Capricorn, 6th house is a harbinger of health issues. We may start hearing more news reports about our President’s health and personally I believe this is long overdue. Even more surprising is how the 2nd Lot of Manilus (War and Warfare) courses through the Yod’s midpoint in Cancer 12th House. Also of note is Pluto’s placement. Pluto is in Capricorn, 6th house in the decanate of Saturn. I think it’s fair to guess that President Obama may soon learn how onerous some of his friends really are!

The Solar Eclipse of July 21, 2009 and the President’s Lunar Return Chart.

I’m sure you’ll agree that the Lunar Return Chart gives a more up close and personal view of our president. (I’m sure I’ll get a lot of mail if I don’t call this one right!) In this bi-wheel view of the Reforms Chart we find an interesting conjunction between the Lord of the Eclipse – Mercury and the 6th Lot of Manilus (Procreation). The Lot is like exact, on the mark, nailed, etc. Now, President Barack and his wife Michelle already have two children and they’ve already acquired a pet. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Interestingly, on the outer wheel or Eclipse Chart the 5th Lot of Manilus – Marriage falls on the cusp of the fourth house. The 5th house has always been noted for children and the fourth for new beginnings. Am I going too far here? Shhh! I won’t breathe a word (smile).

Predictions: Within the next six months look for: (1) A seesaw of stress related health conditions for our president; (2) an unplanned addition to the family; (3) rumors of light my fire marriage relations between Barack and Michelle; (4) Danger of increased War and Warfare on the horizon; (5) American allies and agreements going south, and (6) America finding itself unprepared for the challenge of increased world conflict.
